Well. Weirder shit had happened.

After picking Michel up, Michael had world hopped them back to Earth. He didn't take them to any of the large cities - it would be all to easy for something to go wrong and for him to get caught - but instead took him to the same place Nena had dragged him shopping in California. It had seemed safe enough.

Michael pushed his way into the mall, figuring Michel wouldn't be too far behind]

Yeah, pretty much. I mean, me, Nena and Johann-nii were all born in Germany but we're Earth born. We don't really have the facilities in space on our world to make growing up there a normal thing. [which is totally the truth because the Trinities are anything but normal]

[He claps Michel on the shoulder.] Man, I hope you're hungry.

What kind of date would this be if I ate before it? [... And so it begins. Michel isn't really craving anything in particular, but he is interested to see what's popular in this world. Michel is quick to spot the place that's attracting the biggest line.] How's the food there?

[He mentally notes that he should ask more personal questions after they decide on where to eat]

[You will never win gay chicken with Michael, Michel. He shrugs as he answers, already going through the menu and deciding on what he wants to eat] All the food here's good. Burgers are as alright as anything else, but I may be kinda biased because I'm not picky.

If you don't want burgers though, they've got pizza, noodles, sub sandwiches... [god now he's just making himself even more hungry]

But seriously, Michel doesn't really care and he basically eats whatever tastes good. Though from the way Michael is listing the different sorts of food, he can tell that Michael would easily eat a whole elephant if it was offered.] I should probably stop you from trying to eat the whole food court, shouldn't I?

[A beat.] Actually, are you paying? [Cause if Michael's paying...] I mean, I can find a way to pay you back.

By the way, I didn't realize you had a brother. What does he do?

[Michael's smile dims slightly. He shuffles forward in the queue with everyone else as he answers.] Yeah, my older brother. He's not on the comm like me and Nena so not a lot of people know about him. We get to talk to him pretty often and shit, but we haven't seen him in aaages since he's stationed in space as an engineer.

Sounds like you miss him. [Michel can spot it because he is very familiar with the feeling] You three must be a pretty close-knit family. I mean, you haven't mentioned having parents, so I don't think I'm wrong in saying there's just the three of you.

[Wow, this is ... deep for a waiting-in-line conversation] Do you think you'll get to see him anytime soon?

[Tell me about it.] Yeah. You know, the usual story. War orphans blah blah blah. Johann-nii practically raised us and we're all we have so.

[He shuffles forward again in the queue. Almost there thank fuck stomach you can stop eating yourself now.] I honestly don't know when we'll get to see him, man. Me and Nena may have to take things into our own hands and go surprise him and this is seriously depressing, Michel. Not very good date conversation.

[The man in front of them turns and shoots them a look. Michael grins]

[How rude] Sorry but future in-laws are important to me, dear. I just want to know everything there is to know about you. [Pretty sure everyone's looking now]

But yeah, I'm sure he'll probably be happy if the two of you do that. I mean, like you said, it's been a while since you last saw him.

[Michael's nodding absently. So close now...]I'll see what I can do about-- [SUCCESS Michael is at the counter in a heartbeat, ready to order.]

I'll have two quarter pounders, a bacon double cheese burger, a large fries and a large coke. With a side of onion rings. [He turns to Michel with a grin] I hope you're not hoping for a kiss later or something. What're you getting?

[He's kind of just staring... because did Michael just order three burgers?? After a moment of shock, he turns to the person behind the counter and gives his order:] Uh, I'll just have a standard double cheese burger meal with a bottle of water. And can I ask for a big paper bag in case my date's stomach decides to throw up his meal?

[Michael bursts out laughing at that, and then, when he catches sight of the cashier's expression, laughs even harder.] Like I'd do something as sacreligious as throw up food.

[Their cashier seems to shake herself out of her stupor. In no time at all, they've got their tray full of food. Michael pays, grab the tray, and looks for a table.]

Well, I wasn't sure if you wanted me to tell her you were pregnant. [Because from the amount of food on Michael's tray gave the impression that he were eating for two dozen.]

How about over there? [He points to an empty table in the centre. There's a family sitting to the left of it and a group of teenagers to the right of it.]

[Michael starts walking in that direction, carefully balancing the tray.] Pregnant? Michel, man, I am not that kinda girl.

[They reach the table with little incident, and Michael kicks a seat out with his foot as he sets the tray down before sitting.] Besides, it's not my fault I have a fast metabolism. [Reaching for a quarter pounder you may want to cover your eyes, bro]

[Michel's steadily readies himself with some his chips. God, it's like a car crash. He should look away but... chips.gif] Are you sure you weren't genetically engineered?

[Michael pops the last bite of his burger in his mouth and actually remembers to chew and swallow before speaking.] Nope, all this perfection is just me, man. [Wish you'd stop saying that, Michel. You're making Michael twitchy.]

[He reaches for his second quarter pounder and pulls his fries closer] I take it you're watching your girlish figure though.

[Well, it's weird seeing as how Michael is the only guy with... what looks like natural blue hair. But then again, Michel doesn't look that normal in comparison to the people of Michael's world so he hasn't mentioned it.]

Not everyone gets to look like you without having to put in some work. If I ate what you ate, I'd have a hard time down at the hangars. [Have you ever seen a fat fighter pilot? Cause Michel hasn't]

[Well, yeah, but shhhh]

[Michael finally pauses to take a sip of his drink and shrugs] Guess I'm lucky then. [He grins mischieviously over his drink] I'd totally still date you if you got a little chubby though.

[Now for that bacon double cheese burger...]

But in that case, I probably wouldn't be able to keep you interested.

[Michel's just going to drink some water and wait for Michael to eat something less... savagely before going for his own burger]

[Michael's about to reply when he notices that Michel's barely touched his food.] What's up? You not hungry? You're gonna need the energy, believe me. [Yeah, that part was said on purpose, so sue him.]

[Michel's kind of surprised by Michael's sudden concern. Although he finds it a little amusing] What? No, I'm fine. [He starts to take a bite from his burger, showing Michael that he's honestly not put off by anything]
